HRV-Predict: Effectiveness of personalized exercise training based on heart rate variability in coronary patients.
Target population: you have coronary artery disease and have been admitted to the Montreal Heart Institute’s EPIC Centre as part of a cardiovascular rehabilitation program.
We invite you to participate in this clinical study to help scientists, cardiologists and kinesiologists better personalize the exercise training sessions performed in cardiovascular rehabilitation.
The resting heart rate is generally between 55 and 80 beats per minute. It is permanently influenced by the autonomic nervous system which innervates the heart and which can accelerate or slow down the heart rate.
We are going to study, with the help of a heart rate monitor (belt to be installed around the chest), how the activity of the autonomic nervous system that innervates the heart can be modulated by training and how we can use these measurements to propose personalized exercise sessions.
The main objective of this research project is to compare a standardized exercise training program (pre-established according to current recommendations) to a personalized exercise training program based on a daily measurement of heart rate (in the morning for 5 min) on the evolution of cardiorespiratory capacity.
Duration: The total duration of your participation in this project is 3 months (this corresponds to the duration of the cardiovascular rehabilitation program).
